The selection of parents and the students (as that of Staff) into SAISS is mainly dependent on the acceptance of a balanced education which recognizes the student’s abilities in skills development and their acceptance of the values and vision of SAISS.
It is expected that such acceptance will be taken as an agreement to refer to the responsible authority’s vision of aligning students and their parents’ interests and subject choices with a career pathway tailored around what each individual student aspires to do after school. The parent has to believe in the natural dynamics of skills development exposing every student locally, regionally and internationally as we change the students’ mind-set and develop them into world class entrepreneurs/business people and sports professionals.
You are therefore invited to consider first the passion your child has, your line of business, the potential skill your child has in sport and SAISS’s Vision and Values and to indicate your understanding and acceptance of the same by signing the declaration accompanying this notice. It is important that you make an informed decision as you select SAISS as your institution of your choice.
You must understand that SAISS is not an academic school only, but a school which recognize students’ holistic abilities. SAISS reserves the right to review the information provided by applicants and to accept or reject applications at its discretion.
SAISS is committed to develop learning environments that provide a holistic, student centred and result-based education. The key underlying assumption is that all participants must recognize that bringing a child to a world class profession, psychologically, physically and socially is a responsibility shared by a multiplicity of actors in society, chief among these being the parents, and the specialist tutors.
As such, parents are first and foremost expected to be actively involved in all academic, skills development programs and financially support all exhibitions, attachments, trips, tours and competitions. Parents who do not support their children’s skills development and well-being in and outside the International School ought to consider other schools.
At SAISS we value the uniqueness, diversity and dignity of every individual student. We recognize that each student has a unique set of learning preferences and abilities. Our approach is that we strive to identify each student’s unique aptitude, ignite and nurture progress towards the evident potential up to professional level. We encourage the home and the school to place emphasis on and reward the student’s abilities, effort and progress.
It is important for a parent to indicate his/her line of business interests or wish so that his/her child’s skills are developed along either that line or the child’s wish, also considering his/her performance.
Note also that SAISS students will have attachments, trips, exhibitions and competitions during holidays/school academic learning time as the institution seeks to develop exposed professional sports people and networked entrepreneurs/world class business people.
As parents consider SAISS’s vision and values, the following provides informative pointers;-
- Parents will be invited and expected to attend consultations, sports competitions, industrial exhibitions and academic activities.
- Parents contribute towards molding his/her child’s business interests by attending to seminars and providing additional material in the chosen area.
- Parents help in infrastructural development, buying/developing and equipping industrial facilities, donating machines, uniforms and sports equipments.
- Parents donate basic food items such as sugar bread, meat, cooking oil,maize meal, rice etc
- Parents are encouraged to volunteer to accompany children to local, national, regional and international sports competitions, exhibitions or internships
- Parents are expected to spearhead various projects to help fund the cost of skills development in students.
- Students will be rewarded for good performance.
- Merit and Effort badges will be given to academic and skills development achievements.
- Parents and their children will be encouraged to attend national, regional and international meetings in order to harness possible business opportunities in their area of interests and that of others.
- Parents will be encouraged to attend to SAISS business seminars in order to harness business opportunities for their children and see areas of diversifying.
- Parents assist the school in organizing exhibitions, trips and fundraising activities.
- Comprehensive reports on each student’s academic, sports and industrial performance are prepared at the close of each term and students are not given positions.
- Parents are encouraged to support their children in starting small projects at home which will be supported by the school.
- Parents/students contribute towards their investment fund on termly basis.
- After course completion, SAISS students will be eligible to apply for loan to start their businesses or to invest in parents businesses for continuity purposes.
